Mulled Wine Recipe – Winter Warmer

As many of you know, we at Social Cooking often offer Cocktail Making as one of our optional extras to any event. This winter, we’ve created a Mulled Wine Recipe to serve on arrival, as a delicious winter warmer! Spicy, sweet, with a hint of citrus and apple, Mulled Wine is the perfect start to any winter event.

We’ve provided the recipe below (well, Annabel Langbein has), so you can make it yourself.

Annabel Langbein’s Mulled Wine Recipe

Ingredients

10 whole cloves
2 whole star anise
2 cinnamon quills
2 bay leaves
1 orange or 2 mandarins finely sliced
2 cups apple juice
1 cup caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 bottles robust red wine

Method

Bring all ingredients except wine to a simmer in a large pot, stirring until sugar has dissolved (about 15 minutes). Add wine and liqueur, if using, reduce heat to low and allow to warm through without boiling (5-10 minutes). Strain off fruit, spices and bay leaves if desired, or leave them in the mix. Serve hot.
