Asian inspired dessert with crispy apple.

This treat with crispy apple is delicious served with ice cream and caramel sauce.

  • 1 apple, peeled, cored, sliced into 1?4-inch thick rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1?4 C cornflour
  • 1?2 t baking powder
  • 1?2tsalt
  • 1?4 C cold water
  • 1 Henergy egg
  • 1 T vegetable oil
  • 1?2 C sugar
  • 1 t Greggs cinnamon
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Sift together flour, cornflour, baking powder and salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk together water, egg and vegetable oil.

Add the liquid to the dry ingredients, whisk until smooth. The batter should be a little thinner than pancake batter. If too thick, add more water, if too thin, add more flour.

Mix sugar and cinnamon together to make cinnamon sugar.

Heat a deep fryer with vegetable oil to 180°C.

Dip each apple slice in the batter. Let excess batter drip off and carefully place in the fryer.

Fry only 3-4 slices at a time until a golden light colour. Drain briefly on paper towels, then dunk in cinnamon sugar, coating evenly.

Serve with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.
