Diwali Bliss Balls

Diwali, also known as Deepawali, is the festival of lights that is celebrated once a year in the Hindu calendar. For everyone that celebrates it means the beginning of new year with the victory of good over evil. Lamps, candles and fireworks illuminate this festival as it is the one day in the year when the moon isn’t sighted in the Hindu calendar.

Diwali Bliss Balls - Coconut Ladoo

Serves 10

Ingredients: 

½ cup condensed milk
2 cups of desiccated coconut
2 pinches cardamom powder
2 tbsp finely chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios, or cashews)
4 tbsp desiccated coconut for garnish
Almonds for garnish (whole, sliced, or slivered almonds)

Method:

Dry roast nuts for a couple of minutes and set aside.

Add condensed milk and coconut to a non-stick pan. Mix well and begin to
cook on a low heat stirring frequently. Cook until the mixture turns warm and
thickens. Remove from heat, add cardamom powder and nuts, and mix well.
While the mixture is lukewarm, shape into medium sized balls with your palms.

Garnish with the almond and roll over desiccated coconut.

(Store in an air-tight container and refrigerate. Best if consumed within 3-5
days)
